I've been amazed how many people have TOTAL FAITH in the ages reported by radiometric dating. They consider it unquestionable. If you question it, they consider you an uneducated science denier. So it's good to have some real science shedding light here.

It was explained to me that the reason the lava domes in Mt. Saint Helens date very old despite being very young is because the dating method tolerance is + or - several million years. So even if a sample is only 30 years old the dating method could still return millions of years. Even if the true date is 500 years old that would still be outside of the dating tolerances. In fact even 10, 000 year old rocks would be way outside the dating tolerances and return millions of years in error.

But What if all of the rocks on the entire earth were all younger than 10, 000 years old? If that was the case then would not all of the rocks suffer the same error when subjected to the same testing method? How could one possibly know that the rocks whose dates are unknown from historical records are in fact any older than the known ones?

Because of the dating methods massive wide open tolerances all rocks could in fact be less than 10, 000 years old and still return dates of millions of years. The dating methods and those who interpret its findings simply do not take this into account.

I am an ardent young-Earth biblical creationist, so please do not let my question make you feel like I am attacking you, but I must ask this: When you measure the argon isotopes in the lava rocks, how do you know that the isotopes were not also in the lava and in the substance prior to the eruption? That is to say, how can we be certain that we shouldn't be considering that the isotopes in question were not part of that lava rock before it cooled around the volcano? How do we know that we should measure the age of the rocks rather than the substance that comprises the rocks?

Of course, I'm assuming that you haven't tested flowing lava for argon isotopes because of that heat issue, so what makes you so certain that your conclusions about the older ages are not accurate? How do we know that "cooled lava" is synonymous with "new rocks?"

Of course they’ll just retort with the exception of C-14, radiometric dating processes only work in millions of years and blah…we’re stuck blah blah in blah our presuppositional worldview blah…no questions about entropy please and thank you.

Good video guys! But you should have included one specific example of the tested rocks of recent lava flows.

When a car is manufactured, the parts are first made using already existing materials and then assembled. Once completed, the new car is 0 years old, although the materials used for parts may be thousands or millions years old. The carbon date does not mean the age of the Earth. God created the Earth using materials He created first and then assembling them to form the Earth. How could we tell the age of the Earth from some materials carbon dating? The creation story in Genesis was revealed by the Creator Himself and we MUST believe it, for God's words are Truth and He cannot say a false word.

What he didn't mention is that there are 4 major radiometric dating methods and it is extremely rare to get any two to be within 25% of each other. To agree (even while wrong) is virtually unheard of.

I had the same questions about obsidian arow heads. Archeologist telling me how old the arrowhead was. I said you are just telling me the age of the rock not the forming of the arrowhead. There is a flintknapper here in town. He's pretty good. He took a bunch of arrowheads and boiled them in some sort of root water and mud. Then he seeded an area and told an archeologist he found some arrow heads. The archeologist had some wild dates. When in fact the arrowheads were only 10 years old at the max.

Old rocks were also erupted. That is why you need to sample the basaltic rock

They would need to know what it started with. And /or what was the age of the rock that melted. It cannot be assumed.
