38 strikes in a row without a batter throwing a fit is the greater statistic.

Edit: meant to write getting a hit but it looks like people liked the typo better

That last pitch would have been a strike if it wasn't Marvin Hudson, and instead GREG GIBSON, THE HOME PLATE UMPIRE MOTIONING TO BOTH TEAMS

This is the most underrated moment of Bartolo’s career. Everyone remembers the homer off Shields, and how he’s “big sexy, ” but this guy was one of the most consistent pitchers in MLB history. He had a hard fastball early on with Cleveland, and as his career progressed he became more and more crafty with his pitches, and his velocity became secondary to his immaculate control of the strike zone which allowed him to stay in the league as long as a lot of kunckleball pitchers do. He’s not a hall of famer, but he will always be memorable.

Colon enjoys the game so much, which is why he has lasted so long. He's one cool dude!

The sad part is he lasted in the league way longer than a lot of the players in this video. And I believe he's pitching in the Mexican league now. He's not the best, but he is very reliable and extended his career by having great control. Loved him on the Mets.

38 strikes in a row is a very very hard feat. And his pitches actually had decent movement. Pitches (most) were in good locations too

The movement on those pitches is INSANE. Greg Maddux-esque. So much legend.

When you preordered the pizza for 9 PM, but you have to pitch at 7.

Even though he pitched like crap for the Braves I enjoyed every second he played for us

The way Colon reinvented himself as a l starting pitcher, to me, was a great story. He went from being a guy in his 20s who could throw 98 or so and just overpower people to being a pitcher with tremendous control when he showed back up in the majors in 2011.

That's challenging a hitter at its finest.

Talk about challenging hitters. I remember watching all of this, and it was hilarious. Bartolo was hilarious. That he was portly and out-of-shape made me nostalgic for the 70's when relievers would ride golf carts with a big baseball cap to the mound.
