Levy didn't mistake the pin for the skewer, he did it to see if frank actually picks up the mistake

The second he said “ a tasty skewer”
Frank: 😮 I SEE IT

frank is so nice teaching levy how to play and being humble about it at the same time as if he wasn’t the world champion who beat stockfish 10/10 games

Pin is a piece infront of the king being unable to move and a skewer is when the king is infront of a piece and you check the king to get the piece behind the king

Rook e1, Pawn f2 (check), King takes pawn, bishop c5 (check), King f1, bishop e3, prevents the pin. Now, the King is exposed to a check, which can get the queen out from the pin.

As mentionned by Templar, stockfish's "best line" would be Bc5+ Kh1 fxg2+ etc.. But on a pratical point of view, against a weak player, there's a much better line : f2+ Kxf2 (forced) Bc5+ and if white plays the obvious Kf3? to control e3 and prevent Be3 then Nd4+!! (Be3! also wins, if Rxe3 then Bg4+!! -Kxg4 Qxe3 and despite two pieces for the rook, white is lost with the king in the centre, for instance Bd3 h5+! Kf5 Nd4#, or Nf3 Qe4+ and Qxc4 winning back one of the pieces - but it's less efficient, it only wins a pawn on the most precise line g3! Qf6+ Kxe3 o-o - threatens Re8+ Kd3 Qd4# - Nf3 Qe7+ Kf2 Qc5+ Be3 Qxc4). It also only wins the bishop for white on correct play (Kf1 insted of Kf3, and on Be3 Nf3 Qf6 Rxe3+) but additionally white has to be much more precise and can easily fall to the trap and play Kf3?, so it's much stronger than the immediate Bc5+ against an average human player. SF isn't smart enough to realize that this line is the only practical chance for black ;)

That "but it probably does happen" took me out lol. When you know your opponent is just as bad as you are :D

At this point he’s just telling Frank the moves he has to play 😂

He needed help but at least he's right, that's a pin not a skewer :). Would be a skewer with the King on e5 and Q on e8 instead

"Skewer"
*Moves Queen and King's taken*

I think its rook to e1, than pawn to F2 check, creating a fork but king can take and the queen is still pinned. There is no more checks for black.

When King e1 then pawn f2 and king f2 or else its a forced mate in 3 then when king takes on f2 then bishop e5 then king has only 2 options which are f3 and f1 if king goes f3 then knight d4 is mate and king goes f1 then we go bishop e3 to protect our queen and it isnt exactly sacrificing then if the rook doesnt take and does something stupid then we can go queen f5 then king e2 then bringing the white bishop to e4 is mate (in most cases) or if it isnt mate atleast u get a free queen for a bishop

Ik most people wont read it to the end as its long but whoever read it till the end, thank you

Queen take Pawn F3, then bishop take pawn F7.

But there is no Pawn on F7💥
The other player should push pawn to F6🌋🌋🌋

skewer = attacking piece checking the king with an undefended or important piece behind it. pin = piece attacking important piece which is unable to move because the king is behind it

“I’ll give you a hint” and then he basically told him exactly what the move was. 😂

f2 check looks scary af. King must take, then Bc5+ and the king must go to f3, and it's basically a miracle that Nd4+ doesn't win the game but without an engine I can't quite see how whit escapes a forced draw.

Doesn’t guarantee winning the Queen but you do win at least a bishop
