People say Hufflepuffs are "just the leftovers, " and this is going to sound controversial, but I actually agree. However, I think that's the beauty and spirit of the Hufflepuff House. We take people who don't really fit in and give them a place to belong, without any elitist attitudes about who is "good enough" to be one of us. So you can tease the Puffs all you like, but we're gonna tolerate the shit out of you.

Gryffindor: the House of the Brave.

Slytherin: the House of the Cunning.

Ravenclaw: the House of the Wise.

Hufflepuff: the House of the Loyal.

No house is any better or worse than the other. They just all have their own perks and unique traits. Not all Gryffindors are dumbasses and jocks-- they can be smart or even the best of friends. Not all Slytherins are evil or bullies. They're just ambitious and do what they have to in order to get what they want. Not all Ravenclaws are nerds and bookworms. I'm a proud eagle and I get terrible grades. I just do my best to make wise decisions. As for Hufflepuff, they have their own charm. They make the best of friends and can be very charming and charismatic. Every house is great in their own way!

Many years ago they made a German dub of this. The people dubbing got the lactose quote wrong and translated it as "i can only die of lactose" and that's become an iconic quote here

HufflePuffs don't just have one thing they're good at and value. They have more than all the other houses, because they have traits from them - but that's not what they value most. Hufflepuffs are AMAZINGGGG.

My theory is that Hufflepuff (apparently House of the Loyal/Friendly/Hard Workers) is a place of those who are not just unable to fit into a category, but those who fit into all 3 categories evenly. This could explain why Cedric Diggory, a Hufflepuff, got in, because he would need to be brave, ambitious, and intelligent to possibly win the tournament.

Slytherin is about ambition. There are people out there that want to rule the world. So naturally they are sorted into Slytherin. That's why most Dark Lords and Ladies come from Slytherin. But let's not forget that ambition can be for good. Some of the best people in this world are the ones that want to change the world for the better.  Merlin was a Slytherin.

Hufflepuffs are warm hearted people, always willing to help someone else. During the battle of Hogwarts, according to J.K. Rowling, Huffle puff  was the second most represented house after Gryffindor, but while Gryffindors stayed with a more of a "showoffy" feeling, hufflepuffs did so not for the fight or the fame or what not, but because they felt it was their duty to stand for their peers.
