I'm Italian, my grandmother was a big fan of him and even organized a drive in theater while on vacation in Sardinia (Italy). She died in December, and one of her last wishes was watching a Sidney Poitier movie with all the family.

Don't forget from 1995 to 2003, Poitier served as a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company..In April 1997, Poitier was appointed ambassador from the Bahamas to Japan, a position he held until 2007. From 2002 to 2007, he was concurrently the ambassador of the Bahamas to UNESCO.

I have a great story about Portier.

My grandmother worked the front desk at a building in Chicago. She was a huge fan and ran up to him and said "Sydney youve made my day!

Her replied "no, you've made mine"..

My grandma loved it so much. One of her favorite stories.
