Can we just all agree to stop risking our animals’ lives because it might make us go viral. I’d rather have happy vital fur babies than a viral account anywhere on the internet.

The problem is those times you aren't right there watching them and they have a stare down. You have to use the bathroom and sleep and go to work sometime!

When my 2 boys enter the stare down, I'll raise my voice and say "now make good decisions, kids!" It usually gets their attention lmao 🤣

I redirect and distract saying "hey" then when they are good and quiet they get a treat. Now all I have to do is say "hey". They stop and come for a treat. It's been very peaceful.

I've watched every JG video (including this one at least twice), and I've been trying for two years to get my two cats to just...coexist without fighting. I kept my timid cat in my office with me for two months (fifth or sixth time I've done the whole, reintroduce them from scratch, closed door, treats, pet gate, treats and toys, etc.) When they finally progressed to calmly looking at each other (and even sharing toys!) through the gate for several weeks, I tried opening the gate. For two days, everything was good. Napoleon cat came in, all curious-like, but any time things got tense I intervened. I thought we were making progress. Then this morning, timid cat slunk out (and yes, I've been working on building up her confidence for well over a year! Including JG's supplements for both of them!) and unfortunately, went into the laundry room right before Napoleon cat came around the corner. Timid cat felt trapped in the small laundry room, and all of a sudden screams and fur flying. Sigh. I can't watch them 24/7. All I can do I guess is ONLY allow them into the same space when I'm actively there to watch them. These two are so difficult.

One of my cats suddenly and violently passed of cancer a week ago and this channel has been very comforting

The stare-down always leads to the throw-down. That's when I start throwing tennis balls. No kidding. They are instantly distracted by whatever just went bouncing by, they forget about fighting and go ball-chasing instead. And I don't have to pause The Crown to get up and stop a cat fight. Bonus.

My cat is an indoor cat and she loses her mind(she is the mellowest cat ever) when she hears and sees the neighborhood cats fighting in her yard. Her little 8lb self broke a brand new window screen to tear out after them. She flails her extremely muscular body against the glass if I close the windows which I have to do now. But I recently discovered one thing that will break the spell when she hears/sees them is to say Lickie. Her lickie treats are her fav thing in the world. Since I discovered that, my windows are safe again. As long as I’m in the room when it happens. Which it usually is cuz they generally fight outside my bedroom window around 1am. Oy!

The sight blocking thing with a folded up cardboard box works really well. It's funny how cats can just let it go and get back to being friends seconds after a stare down.

You are so right. I live with four cats, two male, two female and they go through cycles of this, not too often, but I do not like it, so as soon as it starts I snap my fingers at them and stern voiced demand that it stop. They are so used to that they tend to stop with only the finger snap now. All of a sudden they remember something they have to do elsewhere.

Honestly man. What you're doing is such a great work, that there ain't words powerful enough to describe it. I've got massive respect for you. My fire burns for the same things as yours does.

It's so true, you'll totally get slashed.

My mom managed to avoid it, but like a mom, if she heard too much rough housing, then she would come break up the fight, seperate the kitties like naughty kuds, and scold them for playing "too rough"

YES! My older girl (with kittenhood PTSD) has a very strong stalking prey drive...but she only focuses that energy on battling with my lil bitty female. It's been 3 years of separate houses, separate levels, and a whole Lotta anxiety on my part everytime I have to leave overnight. 💔

Thanks for this. Incredibly helpful! My cats don't fight often, and when they do, there's no snarling or hissing - it feels more like family bickering than real hostility, more along the lines of "Hey, you at the last of the potato chips!" than "I challenge thee to a duel to the death!". I've watched them go through it partly because I didn't know if they were playing or fighting, and partly because if they were fighting, I wanted to figure out what the fight was about. Will definitely be watching for that "stare down" moment and redirect their attention elsewhere. Super great advice. Much appreciated!

Yeah!! Redirection & sight blocking. Those are exactly what I’ve been doing with my two cats. Feeling great I do it right! Thanks, Jackson. 👍🙏😻😻😻

Absolutely! I WILL get between them when the stare-down occurs. I have 17 cats. Only 2 misbehave, Thomas and Nickolas. It doesn't happen often. At times, Thomas won't let it go. I will pick my big boy up, shower him with love and kisses. This, he hates more than fighting with Nick but he get the message. They are not stupid. All in all, it is peaceful here.

My granddaughter in law has a couple of cats that she rescued as well as a couple of dogs she rescued all of them were previously in abusive situations and have varying degrees of anxiety. I think that this site blocker idea will really assist her because every now and again one of the cats will attack either the other cat or the dogs or the kids or somebody and nobody knows it’s coming. I sent her your video

Both my boys are senior rescue kitties. I got Samson when he was 6, now almost 9, and Axil at 7, now 8. Axil always attacks Samson and bites him on the scruff of his neck whenever he thinks Samson is getting too much attention from me or I sing to Samson. Every night I sing You Are My Sunshine and unless I sing to both of them, there's always a problem. Thank you for this video because now I will redirect him using treats or a toy.
