This is a detailed setup and review for the Winegard LNA-200 Signal Amplifer/booster for TV antennas. It definitely increased the signal strength on most channels as you'll see in this video. I am about 40 miles from the broadcast towers. You can order it below:

I needed more signal to boost my Range Experts updated long range VHF/UHF antenna to pick up a FOX station for NFL games. This Preamp worked fine. I needed the signal pushed down the RG6 to my receiver. A standard Cimple AMP wasn't correct for my current needs due to my cable length.

What happened to the old 300 ohm twin lead wire? Was much less loss on long runs.

I do hafta say that I have the Winegard LNA-200 and so far has outlasted any pre-amps I've had! It has survived 2 very hot attic summers, where i always had to replace my amps when it got too hot or cold! Looks and feels cheap, but I have had great luck with it!

I'll be doing a test between the LNA-200 and the Kitz Tech KT 200

Will this help if you are in a wooded location? Trees around you.

Your commentary does not sync with what's on the picture. Made for a confusing watch.

Hi Tyler,
any comments on using the LNA-200 preamplifier combined with a PCT distribution amplifier? I did it but it seems they are not compatible. Signal improves when I use only one of the amplifiers. However, I need both since I have five TVs hooked to the 4-port distribution amplifier.

The smaller the cable, the more attenuation you'll have. RG 6 has less drop off than RG 59. The price difference is minimal, especially compare to cost of antenna, mast, etc; A few cents per foot is money well spent. If the run was very long, I would opt for RG 11.
I've never worked much with antennas, but have done mucho cable work. Something else to keep in mind is the have as few connections as possible, as there is always some insertion loss involved.
Finally, good grounding/bonding doesn't help signal strength, but it helps minimize interference...and can avoid arcing between grounds if lightning hits anything.Tyler has mentioned ground many times, but it can't be over stressed. Having an arc between a phone, a tv, and maybe a sink faucet can be exciting but it's excitement you could do without.

The amplifiers should only be used to make up for the loss in the coax ideally. Setup the antenna first without the amp. Then remember that the 200Mhz and lower channels (old VHF 1-13) need a higher antenna than the UHF channels because the antenna has to be bigger and normally has far fewer or even only a single element. Problem with this is higher means longer coax and you get a nice height on VHF - then the UHF (400Mhz and up) leak miserably from the extra coax length. Setting up an HDTV antenna within 15 miles of the broadcast is a slamdunk, setting up same in a fringe area (30+ miles) is an art. ;-)

i believe amplifier only helps to compensate loss on long cable. the signal is actually still the same exactly what antenna received

Viewers CANNOT comprehend your channel receivability!! From NOW ON, please state the distance of the cities, so the rest of the country, which does NOT live in eastern PA., can relate!!!! THANK YOU!!!
