A really good game, but the rule book was frustrating. If it wasn't for the Game Night! playthrough, we never would have figured out how to play this. And using it as a reference for a few things during the game was a frustrating experience as well.

I wanted to like this one so badly since I LOVE Race for the Galaxy as well as Roll for the Galaxy. But between the draft and not getting the cards you need in your opening hand (since the game is a race), obviously broken artifacts and places of power, severe lack of counter-play, and the extremely uninteresting card-play, I'm not going to be picking this one up. I have played it several times online, and every time I've left frustrated even when I won. Glad you enjoy it though.

I really don't get the theme critique. It's one of the most popular themes in the universe, the only people who would think "oh its just another mage game" as you said are the people who have a house full of games or play a new game almost every day like you. I don't think those people make up the majority of customers.

I would never tell anyone this is a "Mage vs Mage" game... that is strictly theme. Mechanically, it plays nothing like other such games. It's pure engine-building. I see there is some "attacking" other players, but I'm guessing it isn't overly common. There is "Attacking" in 7 Wonders as well, and it probably feels similar to that.
