This was one of those songs that it didn't matter where you lived, who you were, what ethnicity you were, it brought pure unity. This song came on you bet everyone within earshot was dancing, skating and having a good time. Very few songs have this magical power over the human spirit.

The keyboardist is my friend, Steve Cox. The Dazz Band were originally called Kinsman Dazz (as in dance-able jazz)and they were huge here in Cleveland. I met all these guys when I was managing a Pro Audio music shop in the 80s. They received a Grammy for this tune. My pal Steve is now Trisha Yearwood's keyboardist. Class guy and a great musician. Sorry for the tell-all here. This brings back many great memories. Love you J and Amber. Peace and love to all here. God bless.

This is just one more song that reaffirms the fact that I grew up in the best Era ever

As a kid in the early 80's, It was an awkward and difficult time for me. I was shy and bullied a lot. But, there was 3 songs that always lifted my spirits and brought me comfort. Kool and the Gang's "Celebration." Earth, Wind and Fire's, "Let's Groove." And The Dazz Band's "Let it Whip." To this day, I still get such joy listening to them.

Has there ever been a better roller skating song seriously.

There's a little extra joy for some of us old farts that grew up on this music, knowing what you are about to hear and watching you react... in this song particularly... the moves... the song itself, the woo-hoos, and the singer solos... I love watching y'all discover the music of my youth and appreciating the diversity of it all... the 70s and 80's were a blast to grow up in... we saw funk, rock, metal, disco smooth rock pop all coexist in a wide open musical landscape... without judgements... your enthusiasm and positivity are infectious... thank you both!

I love the look on Amber's face when it starts, kinda like 'ok, what's this gonna be' and within 1 minute in she's squealing and nearly popping out of her seat, head going side to side. I miss this kind of music.

If you can sit still while listening to this song, you have no soul.
This track was, is and will always be an absolute banger.

This song was The Dazz Band's biggest r&b crossover hit ever!!! The song went all the way to hit the #1 spot on both the Billboard Soul and the Billboard Dance charts. The song also peaked at the #5 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the summer of 1982. This song is definitely on fire indeed!!!

This song was definitely one of my FAVORITE songs to dance and roller skate to! The roller skating rink that I use to go to (called Skate Ranch) almost every single weekend in 7th, 8th, & 9th grade was so much fun! It had 2 pool tables, 1 air hockey table, 1 ping pong table, MANY arcade games, and amazing food, a huge skating rink and in the middle of the rink were 3 good sized dance floor where we could take off our skates and break dance, regular dance, whatever we wanted to do. Oh thanks for bringing back fun memories of my 12, 13 & 14 year old self (7th, 8th & 9th grade). Those were the best of times! Much love to you guys ❣️✌️

Roller skating was never the same after this song came out! We’d skate every weekend and when this song started playing EVERYBODY was on the floor skating. Thanks for the trip down memory Lane! 🤓🛼🛼

The was a billboard top five single in 1982. This song was everything. The lead singer’s brother is Archie Bell who had a billboard number one in 1968 while serving in Vietnam. LET IT WHIP is Motown platinum.

This is the song right here! They would be getting their groove on down the Soul Train line to this! The dance that was out then was called the rock Ayeeee!!! I can just see Jay and Amber if they were back in the day working it on out down the Soul Train Line! 😁🎼🎶🎵🎶
