Picture agencies around the world issued "kill notices" on Sunday to their media clients after it emerged the photograph had been manipulated, probably by using image editing software.

It calls into question how the public can trust photographs released by official bodies - a situation made worse by powerful AI tools that can create real-life images.

I don’t even understand— what does it mean? Like was it just photoshopping to touch up the way normal people do? Because the way this is a global news story makes it seem like there’s some sinister reason behind the photoshop.. wtf
