Launch Control: Never Mind - Episode 12.5

Travis Pastrana has a change of heart after taking time off, returning to rally alongside teammate, Brandon Semenuk, at the Oregon Trail Rally. Things don't go exactly as planned for either driver, but by the rally finish one driver has found his groove again. Back in Vermont, the team starts building Project Midnight WRX in preparation for Scott Speed's debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Born from the success of the record-breaking “Airslayer” Gymkhana car, Project Midnight takes things to a new level with a singular directive: outright speed.

Get ready for a deep look behind the scenes of a multi-discipline, worldwide racing team like you’ve never seen before. This is Launch Control.

The amount of stuff the Subaru Motorsport techs can fix in so little time is INSANE!!
And I agree, the uniqueness of driver/co-driver is so cool! I argue that the co-drivers are crazier than the drivers!
Furthermore, this ep felt like we got a peak at how Brandon and Keton function/behave. There is a fair bit more stuff on Travis and Ray so this was cool to see.

I work in film and photo, and I lean towards the emotional side of documentaries when I create. This is a great one and I wish I could work on the production crew someday. Launch Control is a huge part of our (The Subaru/VSC Rally Lovers) lives. I even bought an STi and I already have an 04 wrx. Thank you VSC and Subaru!

Fantastic episode, so glad Travis is back! Boss can't complaint too loudly if the mindset he demands from his drivers also leads to some drawbacks sometimes, can't pick and choose decisions in isolation.

I got to see Project Midnight at Goodwood this year, what an awesome machine.

Also, when I was doing some stuff with WRC at the weekend, I did manage to catch the VSC guys taking a very close look at the Hyundai i20 👀

Hopefully VSC and SUBARU end up in WRC in a few years, would be supreme to see them in 2027 🙏

Also, big ups to Andrew Coley on the narration. Was awesome to work with him on the DiRT games 😎

The intense aero on that Project midnight car reminds me of a WRC car. Of course the engine is well beyond WRC specs. I so keep hoping to hear an announcement from Suburu that they will return! I think with the hybrid requirement being given the boot it makes it marginally more likely.
