As someone who has left the NHS after ten years, less than a month ago to do agency full time. The proposal sounds good on paper but nothing in this document talks about increasing pay. It’s definitely encouraging to hear that they are trying to make a difference but until they start discussing money on the table more people will leave to go to pastures that pay whether that be agency or countries that pay and value there staff. They've been trying to minimize use of Agency staff for years but NHS cannot function without Agency staff. Worked for the NHS for 13 years before taking voluntary early retirement 10 years ago and been an Agency nurse since then.
It would be interesting to know how they plan to implement it this time.

Nurses in the UK need to be more vocal and aggressive about their remuneration. You couldn't even get a US nurse to wake up for the type of salaries that the NHS is offering.

£15 for a qualified nurse? This is ridiculous.
The amount is for support workers.

Worked with NHS for over 20years, just retired and doing my thing, refused to stay when asked. I wished I had left long time ago. The freedom of working when and where is unquantifiable !! No pressure from anywhere. If I worked somewhere I don't like the place I don't go back there. Nothing beats getting paid every week! Not having to wait for 4 weeks! Or being compelled to work on Christmas or New year's eve or day because you cannot have both holidays, or having to beg to have your annual leave. I don't know how I did that for such a long time! Thank God for His deliverance!

NHS still dancing around.... not talking about Increasing Pay, to encourage staff to stay back is too poor. I feel sorry for them cos many will still leave. Reform ko Reform niiii😮

They seem to get why staff are leaving. They keep dancing around the issue pay them properly so they don’t go to work for agency.

If they remove Agency they remove the one reason why many people are still nurses. Their plan does not respond to the realities on the ground at all

That's mission impossible as long their salaries are peanuts .On the other hand, even if salaries are good shortage of staff is a chronic disease that cannot be treated and agency nurses will always be required to fill in the shortage.We get paid well in Queensland Health and still there is shortage of nurses & we always have agency staff .

I'm at an agency and from what i can see and here are they are trying it, however it's not something that's going to work, they need agency because they pay so bad, if they wanted to sort the problem they'd start by paying their nurses more

I don't see any solution there. The issue is PAY full stop. £14/hr is ridiculous, not for the responsibility I carry on that shift.

It would be interesting to juxtapose against pension costs, training, paid vacation etc.Contract staff only receive the balance of the cash (after a deduction by the agency). Or is this assumption off base?
