THE 2021 BMW M5 CS FIRST LOOK

The limited BMW M5 CS 2021, the price of which is at least 180,400 euros (as of January 2021) well above the 126,625 euro competition (as of December 2020), is the first of its kind. The most obvious design feature is the clubsport -typical enlarged spoiler lip on the trunk lid. This so-called Gurney was already used in the Clubsport variants of the M3 and M4 (F80, F82) and also adorns the well-known M2 CS. Furthermore, the CS, which is based on the 625 PS strong Competition, differs through accents in gold bronze. For example, the frame of the kidney grille and the M gills on the front fenders and tailgate and the rims of the 20-inch forged wheels are kept in this color. The brake calipers are painted in red or gold on request. In addition, the BMW M5 CS (2021) has laser headlights that shine in yellow instead of white when the dipped and main beams are switched on and the welcome light, as in motorsport, and are intended to be reminiscent of successful GT racing cars.
Under the hood of the BMW M5 CS (2021) works the well-known 4.4-liter eight-cylinder, whose output increases by ten to 635 hp. The torque curve, on the other hand, does not screw up any further: it remains at a maximum of 750 Newton meters. At the same time, the use of lightweight materials and carbon bucket seats made of M3 and M4 means that the CS slims around 70 kilograms compared to the M5 Competition (empty weight: 1970 kg). The eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission is responsible for power transmission as standard. The all-wheel drive system M xDrive is also on board, which also offers a setting for pure rear-wheel drive. Equipped in this way, the CS clearly undercuts the performance of its more down-to-earth brothers, who storm to 100 km / h in 3.4 and 3.3 seconds respectively: the sprint from standstill to 100 km / h is completed in just 3.0 seconds. Tempo 200 is reached after 10.3 seconds. The maximum speed is regulated 305 km / h. An M5 CS sports exhaust system made of stainless steel with four tailpipes is of course also part of the standard equipment.
