I live in Scottsdale, AZ. Forever a nice house was $350k. Now you can’t buy one for a million. Crazy.

The real solution is to reign in government spending powers on both the state and federal level. Otherwise we just have a merry-go-round of unstable housing prices among the states which always hurts the poor and middle class.

I think there isn't a state in this country where it isn't hard to start a family. It is expensive everywhere. I offered my daughter and son-in-law to live with me so I can help with the grandkids and they can save in rent and in child care. This way they can concentrate in their small business and at least try to have a chance in this broken economy.

How is it that poor single parents with four kids can make it in these cities but couples with a 6-figure combined income aren't comfortable have one kid...?

My wife and I escaped the Bay Area to Arizona for a better schools for the kids and more money in our pockets.
We never looked back

I was raised in the 60s-70s. If you wanted to play soccer or baseball or whatever, you went to the park with your neighborhood friends. The
U.S. commercializes everything especially when it comes to kids. Unless you send them to a private school, raising kids doesn't have to be expensive if you're willing to be frugal.

If I was raising a family I'd probably move to the Carolinas, preferably South Carolina. Taxes and home prices are reasonable from what I hear and the weather is good. Btw, I'm originally from CT. Can't afford to live there.
