Hey Fantasy and Sci-fi Book fans! Today I take you on another book thrifting adventure. Today we are going to explore a few thrift stores: Salvation Army, Good Will and Valu Village. I also stop at one local used book store. I found some absolutely awesome books that I have been looking for. Please stick around to the end of the video where I recap every book I bought!

Night and day difference between your thrift shops and those here in Hawaii! I'm jealous! We don't really have anywhere near the selection and what we do have tends to be pretty pulpy and/or old. Living vicariously through your thrifting vids!

I really enjoy thrifting, and there are normally some great finds. I completed my Nora Roberts collection mostly through thrifting. Great haul.

Thanks for the reminder to check out Goodwill for books. I got the first three books in Jennifer L Armentraut's Blood and Ash series at HalfPrice Books yesterday. Also got the 5th book in the Expanse series.

I am lucky if I even see a scifi/fantasy book at a thrift store. I do have some used book sources though. I do bimonthly book 'crawls' where I just spend the day hitting up as many places I can just for used books. We have a place called 2nd and Charles that recently clearanced their clearance section at $1 a book and I bought about twenty books - all hardcovers, I do not by paperbacks too often unless they are vintage. Picking books by edition and condition helps limit how many I buy.

I picked up Spin at a VV! Quite a bit there at your first VV (even if not for you)

I lucked out and found my last Malazan books at VVs!

I recommend Terry Brooks’ Magic Kingdom For Sale as well as his Shannara series. The Kingdom For Sale series combines comedy with high fantasy. It’s built around the idea of a fantasy realm in a parallel universe.

Magic Kingdom For Sale is great for a laugh. It's a lighthearted romp through a magic kingdom, by a high powered corporate lawyer who needs a break from the mundane world. I see the Modesitt books everywhere and no one ever talks about them. Any idea why? I feel like eventually I'll have to try to read one. Neal Stephenson's Seveneves is one of my favorite science fiction books.

Great video Dan! I enjoyed watching you thrift. The astrophysics book by Tyson is on my radar. Enemy of God is a phenomenal book. Fortunately the Milk is really fun. The Johannes Cabal series sounds kind of cool. I went on and read the blurb. I’ve yet to read GGK, but he’s on my list for sure. I’m so happy to see that you got Aeronaut’s Windlass. When I saw you pick it up in part one, I was hoping you actually bought it. It’s such a great book.

The Gap Cycle by Stephen R Donaldson (books 2-5) are so good - I look forward to re-reading them.

Goodkind is not worth reading, in my opinion, unless you are attracted to long expositions of Ayn Rand style philosophy, and a main character that is infallible.
