René Barge and Gustavo Matamoros, two-thirds of Miami-based collective Frozen Music, present an artist talk and experimental sound art performance. Using resonant frequencies drawn from their surroundings, bioacoustic recordings, and fragments from previous site-specific compositions as sound sources, the artists invite listeners to engage deeply with the natural world and reflect on humanity’s relationship with technology, architecture, and the environment.

The Knight Digital Innovation Lounge + Lab (DiLL) at Locust Projects is a 1,000-square-foot space dedicated to advancing digital practices in the arts. As both an exhibition area and a workspace, the DiLL is designed to be adaptable, fostering an environment where artists can explore the cutting edge of creative digital production. The space supports a wide range of digital practices, from installation-based artworks and immersive projections to interactive technologies and collaborative workspaces, allowing for continuous innovation and experimentation.

At the core of the DiLL’s programming is Locust Late @ the DiLL, a monthly late-night peer-to-peer skill-sharing series that facilitates the exchange of ideas among artists and technologists. Launched in 2023, this ongoing series cultivates a collaborative environment where participants can present works in progress, share knowledge, and engage in hands-on learning within the rapidly evolving landscape of digital art and technology. Locust Late ensures that the DiLL remains an active site for both emerging and established artists to experiment and grow their technical mastery.

Presented as part of the Knight Digital Innovation Lounge + Lab at Locust Projects.
