You can achieve this same “anchoring the already dialed in part of the image” with curves too. Set a control point near the middle of the curve. Hold the Alt key and the point will snap to the line. Then you can safely move the points above/below without affecting your dialed in midtones.
Ideally put your middle point near middle-gray of whatever gamma you’re working in. This should help that contrast curve translate to every clip in your timeline vs only the one you’re coloring.
I learned all this from Cullen Kelly’s channel and highly recommended him. But I can also appreciate the shorter form explainer you’ve created here.

HMMMM……Sorry to say you really don’t understand the LOG wheels, you didn’t even explain why they are called LOG and what LOG is. And therefore why they act differently. You should watch Cullen Kelly or several other professional colourists to get more information….Or dare I say it, read the Resolve manual before creating a video trying to teach other people.
