I having a great trouble. I made 2 websites on blogger. I have the same issue in sitemap. I noticed which blog I made years ago on blogger is working properly because that sitemap content sitemap index tag. maybe new websites built on blogger has the same issue. We can't do anything as we can't edit sitemap. Use a sitemap validator tool, it'll show an error. Here's my 2 websites
