I've listened to this song so many times and yet there's always something new to think about. In this case, I was admiring the cinematography and I was amazed at how that two-shot including the pull focus to Alex for his part emphasizes the situation. Separate focus, one for each "partner". Then, after Alex has "had his say", he and Vienna are singing together -- but not together. The couple are talking over each other, arguing their separate positions, emphasized by the camera not being able to keep them focused together. And, like that same situation in real life, sadly, that's the way the song ends. Great case of depth of field showing the depth of emotion and the distance between the two positions at the same time. Kudos!
