Lost my dad to cancer less than two years ago. Recently listened to a BBC news clip and got reminded of the 5AM mornings when I'm still in bed getting woken up by this music coming from the living room. Knowing my dad was sitting down eating cereal with his coffee and watching the news. This intense countdown music playing and switching to the English accent news anchor. Back then I was annoyed and wanted him to turn the damn TV down. Listening to the intro did make me feel like I was in that bed again.

It's seems that BBC's unspoken motto is, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it", when it comes to their opening theme. They've been using this theme for quite some time. It's probably better that way.

BBC News theme sound is such an iconic one. Most of my adult life, I start my day with this. I get up early in the morning, turn on BBC news, and with a coffee/toast and my favorite BBC News, it's just the perfect way to start my day!

This theme has a special place in my heart. From the time I was small my parents would make sure my brother and I are breakfast to the morning news and we turned out to be very up to date on world affairs throughout our schooling careers. Hard to believe the first time I heard it must have been when I was 5.
