Well to me, the most emotional part of the show is when the cast is singing this on the swings, and in a flash all the kids have been replaced by adults playing. It just reminds you how fast childhood is over, and you shouldn’t rush it.

I like the adult twist on this. The song is about hoping you'll be ready for adulthood when you get there, so having it sung by people who are already living the life the song is talking about changes the lesson. The kids are singing from a dreamy viewpoint, whereas the adults are singing from a retrospective or longing viewpoint.

The “grown-up” arrangement was done for West End Live - maybe because the kids’ contracts didn’t allow for those extra performances?

Aw you know when you're a kid and you like plan out your life and you imagine yourself eating your favorite foods 24/7 and playing in a treehouse but then you go to highschool and college and everyone is like time to grow up, but it isn't like you imagined and it's actually so much worse than you ever though

I loved it, but at the end, I’d prefer if the adult(s) would sing about monsters being under the bed. It resonates more especially as we get older that there are just some inner demons you can’t get rid of.
