Anthem to the Rising Sun - Ancient Egyptian Music. (1st edition)

Here is the "Ancient Egyptian Anthem to the Rising Sun."  Originally it was played by priests, musicians and guided by highly evolved spiritual masters.  Also, a new version of this piece - with enhanced orchestration has been recently completed: it is called "Amun-Ra's Anthem to the Rising Sun." The new track is included on the CD "Tears of Isis - Musical Visions of Ancient Egypt." There is a You Tube video as well.

Although the sacred music of ancient Egypt has been lost for thousands of years and is still shrouded in mystery, there are nevertheless countless hints and intimations of the exquisite place of music within the culture of dynastic Egyptian society.  As yet, to our knowledge, there is no known music notation which, if deciphered, would allow a direct transcription of their music for interpretation and performances today.

The first book I ever read was one that my father, Charles Snow Stanley, held up for me about ancient Egypt written in 1902. I have that book still here and have to get up the stairs to get it yet. It very much invokes this song for me. I remember the book very well though I was only three years old.

Well, there is no ancient Egyptian music that has survived - what we have is some musical instruments and many illustrations showing musicians playing. The music here is really just a meditation on what may have been played in ancient Egypt.
