Hey a 13 year old here. me and a class of kids maybe 20 did this last week it was so foggy you could not see but a few feet in front of you. One of my friend fell and rolled backward because he couldn’t see anything. it then started hailing while above tree line. And with the relentless false summit, freezing cold temperatures and hail only four people made it to the top. me two of my friends and one of the four teachers. It took us 4 hours and it was the hardest thing I have ever done

Twin lakes area is beautiful, rugged and remote. I camped there over a dozen years ago and have always thought of returning. It's a great little niche. Climbing Mt Elbert is neat because you can look right across to Mt Massive. I never quite made the summit of Massive because mountain goats were on the trail and did not appear they wanted any company. Tired and hungry I did not want to get in a shoving match with a wild goat so I called it a hike and turned around. Maybe I will climb it one day in the future and finish what I started all those years ago.

Is it possible to backpack mountain 🏔️ Elbert? I’m planning to try it out

Why carry the heavy pack? Most use a day pack with their essentials. And CT thru-hikers usually stash their big pack in the bushes for this side-trip summit adventure.
