This song is considered one of the greatest rock songs . In 1970 this was a revolutionary sound. DeepPurple inspired bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica and were among the heavy metal pioneers.

Remember this is before computers etc, if they remind you of someone remember they were there first.
The days when you needed pure talent 🙏❤️

One of the pleasures of listening to Deep Purple is that numerous live versions of their songs exist, no two quite the same time, so you can listen and hear something new about a familiar song.

What is exceptional about this piece is that absolutely every musician has created an incredible score.

Good reaction.
You must remember this is 1970, no computers, pure music, no high technologies.
Every musician in this band is a great performer.
Deep Purple is always on fire in stage, because every member challenge the others to play better.
In the studio they sound not so good.
I highly recommend to react to other tracks by Deep Purple like HIGHWAY STAR (live from MADE IN JAPAN album), also LAZY from the same album, and SPACE TRUCKIN'.
After that you can check SPEED KING (studio version), STRANGE KIND OF WOMAN and then BURN.
Thanks for your reaction.

Believe it or not, Deep Purple just released a new album. The first single is called “Portable Door.”

and of course, Ian Gillan with his awesome voice.

"Made in Japan" is still the best live album by any band. Recorded during three concerts in Japan 1972. No overdubs, no corrections and the sound is just stellar. The version of Child in Time you just listened to was shorter than normal. Usually, the instrumental part is much longer.
The opening track "Highway Star" with a fan made video:

It took me ages to accept that keyboards/synthesizers were actual instruments, as I always saw them as being artificial and programmed (I grew up with 80's pop, after all...). Rainbow Rising cured me of that (same school mate pointed that out to me weeks later... I did hate him for proving me wrong, though... ;P ).

The fun thing to remember is that this song was made when there were very little faking done, so the instruments were played live in the studio, and the vocals were also very real!

Deep Purple" was formed in 1967, and all of these musicians are top shelf in the Rock world. Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, is among the best with Hendrix, Clapton Galagher etc.

Another good one is Strange Kind Of Woman, Ian on the vocals and Ritchie on the guitar go back and forth on some high notes, it's pretty cool !!

for you as a metal fan, I recommend you to listen to the song Hard Lovin Man from album Deep Purple In Rock, the same album on which Child in Time was released, you will find out where Iron Maiden took their galloping riffs from. Ian Gillan - the singer - is Bruce Dickinson's biggest vocal hero....

the guitarist is Richie Blackmore, later of Rainbow. the keyboardist is the late great Jon Lord. the drummer was 17 or 18 i believe.

I sing in an acoustic band. I think if I tried to sing this I would be on the floor coughing and choking up blood.

I'm a big Ian Gillian fan(singer), . His best stuff was with DP, but his album with Black Sabbath "Born Again"... goes mostly un recognized. Songs : "Born Again", " Keep it Warm" & " Trashed"... the whole album really needs a listen.
