For what it's worth, this might as well have been Game 7 of the World Series for me.

Bob Nutting - "We will start spending more on a team when fans show up"... notice how insanely electric that crowd was whenever we had a team who even had a SLIVER of a chance to win it all.

Seems like a millions years ago. I’ll be a Pirates fan forever. Let’s hope they rebuild right this time and sign their top prospects.

I remember being at this game. It was the loudest baseball crowd I have ever heard and I won’t even forget how loud everyone got when he dropped that ball on the mound.

Oh have the times changed here. This game really brought the city together. I love this team no matter the heartbreak but we need baseball back in the Burgh

I’ve been to Steelers playoff games and Penguins Stanley cup finals games, but nothing has come close to the atmosphere of this Wildcard game. What a night.

As a die hard Yankees fan I was rooting for the Pirates to win that year. Such a fun exciting team and haven’t made the playoffs before then since 1992. True Cinderella story team!

A Pirates Reds Wildcard game? A packed, raucous almost stupefied and spellbound PNC Park. Two dingers for Russell Martin. Shimmy Cueto dropping the ball while being serenaded. A slashing Tony Gwynn-esque oppo single in the shortstop hole by Jay Bruce. A homer from Marlon Byrd? (who was traded by the Mets on Marlon Byrd T-shirt night). Immortal Pirate First Baseman Justin Morneau celebrating the W.

Just a simple Yankees fan, video came up in my feed a decade later, totally forgot this game existed .

I watched it and smiled to myself that this game actually happened cause it seems to have been created in the laboratory of a mad scientist exclusively for the pleasure of diehard Pirates fans.

This was the best day for Pittsburgh baseball in the last 30 years. I hope we get another day like this in the next 30.

i prefer watching the steelers or the penguins over the pirates because im not the biggest fan of baseball, but man that was the best pirates game that i've ever seen in my life, it would be really awesome if the pirates were good again

Holy shit these moments still give me chills. It feels so weird to see over 40k people at pnc. Ever since then, it’s been a constant downward spiral of ass😂one day we’ll get to see this again….I hope

I’m only 17 and I’m a pirates fan. I will always remember that season because it’s the best I’ve seen the pirates😭. And their only good season since I’ve been alive(except for the few seasons after) hopefully I will get to see them eventually win the World Series. And hopefully they will get back to being how they were in the 70’s 😂

This game used to make me happy. Now it pisses me off. This was the single best game since 1979. And nothing else has come close. Cherington has a lot of work to do to even make the Pirates a Wild Card team again. I’m 41 now and I don’t know if the Pirates will ever be in the playoffs again.
