To be honest, you're completly right, the rubber was the first guy i ever saw recording SCP content, glad i moved on and started to watch better creators

So, you’re telling me TheRubber is a content farm that makes SCP stories but does it horribly wrong and doesn’t care? Like, damn if you’re doing a job, do it right.

I have something to add/corroborate here:

No animator became an animator because they wanted to put out shoddy work. From my knowledge of the industry, low-quality animation ( _especially_ of the kind produced by TheRubber) almost invariably indicates bad working conditions for animators -- low budget, too few people, bad oversight, or not enough time, and usually come combination of the four.

I've seen single animators working alone produce really great work -- when they have the time and independence to craft their art as they need. I've seen incredibly low-budget productions produce really great work -- when they have the personnel and freedom to work around their limitations.

So... yeah, TheRubber is not treating their artists well. Best-case scenario is that they're intentionally going out and getting really inexperienced artists -- specifically so that they can get people who won't realise that they're being underpaid.

It's bad.

A personal favourite SCP Animation channel for me is Dr Bob.

He does good animations, and is able to both tell a story about the SCP, and explain the article without rushing or excessive omissions.
As well as that, he also does mostly lesser known SCP's, which has helped me learn about some of my new favourites, like "True solitary" and "The Liar's Cradle".

Its a shame he only has 950k subs, and is unable to upload very often cos he does good stuff.

I also enjoyed Tales from the Foundation and Don gendonez and his "End of Civilization" series.

None of this is particularly surprising to be honest. I remember the recent debacle with Rubber before this, and there were murmurs of them being a Chinese content farm. Nice to have confirmation that that's...almost the case. Now I am wondering why someone would use SCP as their clickbait content farm but that's beside the point.

Good research Sherm, thank you for bringing this to the wider community's attention! Us authors have known the problem, but the wider community hasn't been fully aware.

Thank god, someone is saying something. I’ve been feeling so overwhelmed and defeated because all my videos are going up against content farms who don’t care about the stories at all.

I called this out about 3 months after they popped up out of nowhere. No one is gonna convince me they got a million subs in 3 months. It’s fake. The account was brand new too.

I’m glad someone is finally calling them out for trash content and capitalizing on a fandom they clearly known nothing about.

Thank you for making this. The rubber has been using my author page like a to do list, and has drastically changed several of my scps in the videos. They made the perception of 4715 into something its not, they renamed 5007 while stealing art, they misrepresented aboriginals in the 6004 video. Its been a hassle trying to make them credit me, let alone get them to do it right for such a long time.

Thanks for pointing it out as an actively growing SCP creator! Finally someone is pointing out the facts! Heres some channels i reccomend:
Dr Bob
SCP Animated
SCP ILLUSTRATED
SCP Explained
There may be more out there, but these are my personal favorites

What's sad is I never realised any of this and I've made fanart for that channel twice. Now hearing this and realizing it makes me feel sick that I actually made art for them when they've done art theft..God, thank you for bringing this to my attention

Genuinely scared me when I saw The Rubber on my subs list. As soon as their antics were brought to light I cross checked and yeah screw those peeps. They got it so far wrong on many of the scps and I'll admit I did like the simple animation style - when I thought it was a one-person job.

Bro I just termporarily left this community for a few months and this is what I am greeted with

I didn't know The Rubber could be this shady

It's equally frustrating as fan to find quality, independent SCP content as it's buried beneath the big channels. We're looking for you!

I have always stayed away from the big companies making SCP content. the infographics SCP Channel, the Rubber, and similar channels. because while I'm sure that an amount of the people working on those projects do truly love the SCP community don't care about the product. there's enough good creators out there who are truly a part of the community that I do not need to watch the ones who are exploiting us

Personally, I used to watch the rubber occasionally, but just for SCP's I couldn't find elsewhere, and by elsewhere I mean SCP's not covered by SCP Explained, a far superior alternative, and where I get most of my current SCP content, they do very well narrated videos, and whilst the animation is in that Corporate Advertisement style, I find it quite charming to see these SCP's in that style, and plus with my animator brain, I usually just imagine it looking way cooler than it actually does.

Dang, this actually makes me kinda sad to hear. Not that I was a huge fan of The Rubber or anything, but like many people, they were my first introduction to the SCP universe as a whole.
What bothers me more is (if I remember correctly) they refer to themselves in one of their videos as a single freelance animator who made the videos for fun. Not a money-making scheme. I did think that it was kind of weird how fast they uploaded, but didn’t really put too much thought into it.
But now that I know all this, I definitely will be removing my subscription to their channel. I don’t have any tolerance for art thieves or channels with no heart or thought other than money behind them

I first watched The Rubber but it never seemed the best quality. But now i don't watch it because of the better creators like SCP illustrated and Dr Sherman, who even make me want to make drawings and explanations of my favorite SCPs.

He turned SCP-5683 into a version of a creature named Choo-Choo Charles from a game of the same name. I don’t think SCP-5683 actually looks like that.
