This video is true. A very long story short, African religious practices came to Brasil unfortunately through the slave trade. Even though Africans were being taught Catholicism a lot of the people held onto their religious beliefs and traditions. Over time she became a part of Brazilian religious traditions and sometimes people even interchange her with the Virgin Mary.She is also known by the name of Yemanja.
