The quintessential mic drop video. 10/10!

Tbh the fact they said in their own words that there’s “patented noise suppression algorithm we apply non-destructive analysis of the preamp noise to the audio signal, essentially eliminating all noise on the preamp.” Then they tell you there is no noise suppression lol. So which is it. They lying or don’t want to admit it could be or is their fault lol 😅. Even if I’m the end for most people this won’t matter to much for most content creators, you are still giving an objective perspective and testing on different types of scenarios and mics which is always useful to know. The only issue is them lying about it sadly 😢when even they themselves advertise it on their site as noise suppression at the preamp level

Good for you, Aiden. I am tired of the first response of companies to customer complaints being to blame the customer. great way to get repeat custom.

Great video! Unfortunately, we live in a time where the hypothetical mindset is not acceptable. A product may be designed for 'live streamers" doesn't mean every "live streamer" needs to support its design. You proved they misrepresented the specs, it doesn't mean you're telling everyone to boycott the product. What works for some doesn't work for all.

I don't get it. Where's the problem for BEACN to add a off switch in the app for the (way to harsh) gate?
One question: Do you get a EQ for the monitor out?

Its not a gamechanger because it has the same features as the years old Presonus Revelator series, but a bit worse - they also have OBS integration, studio one integration and a more comprehensive chain. Theyre selling out the io44 for $80, probably worth grabbing one as a comparison, its main problem is it uses a CS4270 ADDA which isnt true balanced so despite the balanced pre its a bit noise prone, notably also prone to ultrasonic interference issues from its cut down filter.

Please don't let companies put you down.
I know it can be hard, I know they can put pressure on you.

Do you have a recommendation for someone in the market to ease up their splitting for audio in a dual PC setup if the Beacn studio didn't live up to the hype?
Asking as I've been saving up to try and get something better than my current setup and I finally got to the point of being able to purchase one but newer reviews aren't giving me a lot of reassurance in the Beacn Studio. My goal is to figure out how to simplify my audio setup as much as possible.

Right now my setup is as follows:
Mic: Blue Ember
Mixer: Mackie Mix 5 which uses a splitter to go to both computers (bought this on a budget and is the piece I'm looking to upgrade / replace)
Voicemeeter Potato: To split audio (excluding mic) to a HD60X from my main PC to my stream PC
Voicemeeter Potato: Using VBAN to send audio from the stream PC back to my main PC for alerts and such

I honestly don't know a ton about audio and learning audio has been a painfully slow. I don't need studio quality but I'd like it to be as simple and painless as possible as its my Achilles heel the entire time I've made any sort of content. It just never sounds right to me but I never know how to actually improve it.

Removing the noise suppression with a firmware update (if possible) and adding a simple check box in the software for said "built-in suppression algorythm" would be a huge update and also redeem Beacn IMO.

Off topic: I have considered this device as Elgato locks out Wavelink if you plug in a 2nd Wave device to the same PC. (e.g. I have a Wave XLR & XLR Dock for my Stream Deck+ with a mic on each and while Wavelink only allows one registered wave device in Wavelink, it literally doesn't work with even 1 device with 2 devices plugged in. Bummer. 3rd party software or 3rd party hardware shouldn't be necessary.)

Phenomenal. Thankyou sir, you've Just saved me $450 AUD. Thanks for taking the time to do such a detailed review and intellectually respond to Beacn themselves. Much respect

Great review both videos.

I think the issue with this Beacn unit is its price. Its hardware quality is fine for the budget market. The effort in fixing it with pugins, no matter how good some things cant be polished for a premium, even with intuitive code.

Hats off to the software engineers maybe beacon bean counters will allow their software to be shiped with better hardware.

Then again the buisness model is to take poor hardware and polish it with code, and pull the he wool over a target audience that don't know better.

Edit: If this was marketed to sound professionals they wouldnt sell any.

Really excellent video. People should realize a company having a product you like doesn't absolve them of accountability for bad actions.

I gotta say here, I was so sold on this after watching the Senpai Gaming video, but didn't see your video and it well, validated the feelings I had when I actually picked this up. For one, it's a super cheap feeling plastic device, the cables wiggle when you plug them in, it's just all-around cheap feeling. For $250 that's a huge bummer.
I was sold on the software, but you can feel deeply that the hardware got the back seat, which doesn't feel great. They should just be a software company, not a hardware company.
Though that said, I'm on a MacBook Air, and their software isn't even recognizing that the unit is plugged in, I can't get anything to even work, and thus, it's literally a brick at the moment.
The sad part is, even if it did work and the software was amazing, I just can't get over how cheap feeling this is. Not worth what we paid. Going to return it for certain. I'm just feeling conflicted right now and well, sad. No idea what to get now.

@DarkCornerStudios

If you don’t mind enlightening me a little bit sir!

I had the wave 3 and have found the software to not be the best for my liking.

I went on and decided to purchase the Beacn Mic. Reason being, I was too broke to get the shure sm7b (my dream)

From getting the eq down, the simplicity of the software (I’ve never ran into bugs personally) I’ve enjoyed it.

Where it gets me/pisses me off, is the proximity of the Beacn mic. Where a little bit further from a fist lengths away, the audio starts to fall off. I know it’s not a big deal, but for me who enjoys watching my VODS with my niece and nephew, it irritates me how my audio just flops now and then.

Which gets me to my actual topic…..

I want to purchase the Shure sm7b. WITH the Beacn studio (software biased/used to it)

And was wondering, with all that noise suppression/gate stuff, using it purely as a pre-amp and for its software would be fine right? Like you have no quarrels with that? (Normal speaking voice only, I won’t be whispering)

I really hope you see this :) thank you in advance

I have one question that you or hopefully someone can tell me. The BEACN Studio works on PS5 but I was wondering if it is possible to get the processed mic effects through the app to get sent to the PS5 versus just a raw audio signal? Either through onboard memory or by having it connected to a pc at the same time as it being plugged into the console.

whats a good interface for recording vocals between 100-350$?

First of all this is what I love about your channel it’s straight forward and not just about the good things, though I might not always agree I respect your opinion.
I was a bit sceptical of the beacon because Harris had praised it (not to say he’s a bad person or anything) but he has a tendency to promote and praise certain products and companies, so I’m glad you got to review it.

Secondly I saw a lot of people commenting that they liked the permanent gate because of their untreated room, and I just want to point to those people who heavily use a gate, that using a gate in a untreated room or a noisy environment is often counterproductive.

I don't even follow audio gear like that but you earned a sub for this since I was looking to replace my goxlr eventually

The only thing I'll say, and this is as someone who really doesn't much care for Beacn, is that it's possible this is just a bug. You clearly have everything turned off, but maybe the software is just bugged and it's not actually turning it off. Maybe you already tested that, just by doing the same whisper thing and just toggling each on and off or by adjusting the settings so that it's effectively off even when it's on. If that's the case and it is just a bug and they can fix it, no harm no foul, so in that sense I do think it would be worth talking to their people about it. But if it is a feature and not a bug, then yeah, 100% agree with you.
