I think regardless of the actual quality of this movie there is something really respectable about it. I truly don't think Coppola cares if this movie is critically well received or makes a profit, I think this idea has just stuck with him for decades and with him now being 85 he knew he was running out of time to actually make it so he put everything he had into it. The movie may be amazing, it may be terrible, but it's an artist making a one of a kind work of art, and that's something I deeply admire.

I can't wait to see it next weekend 😊 It might not be a good movie. It might not even make a profit but there's something about this movie that's basically demanding everyone to "see me first then make your judgement"

Although I consider myself a huge cinephile, I've never actually watched a film by Coppola, but I appreciate out there sci-fi, regardless of overall quality and so I'll probably check this out. However from what I know of Coppola's work, this gives me more Terry Gilliam vibes, like Brazil or Zero Theorem and either way it'll at least be interesting.

My money is on Coppola. Mel Gibson self financed, ”The Passion Of The Christ”. George Clooney did the same for, ”Good Night, And Good Luck.” Not to mention ALL the Tyler Perry movies. Gee, I wonder how that worked out for them?!
