Sonic Forces PC - Null Space Once a Full Stage? (Unused Dialog)

In my last messing around video i apparently came across some unused dialog in nullspace where the trigger was placed at what i guess was the beginning of the stage but since you spawn in the center of it you never touch it and it never gets used in game. maybe it was a full stage at one point but instead decided to reuse metropolis again to save time...

"this taught me something"
Talk about a slap in the face of sonic and tails' friendship.

WAIT WAIT WAIT. The fact that this was going to be more fleshed out reminds me of something. Remember that concept art for Infinite in that strange, glitchy area? That has to be Null Space if stuff was cut out of it.

I think it was originally all the way back to where you start in this stage. Notice there's some rings in place and object that can hurt you.

I just noticed Null Space looks a lot like Egg Reverie from Mania. It's possible it's the same location.

If you look at the leaked footage it shows a picture of infinite in a familiar space like this.

When I first saw null space, I thought it would be a level made from bits of Metropolis that were sucked into the wormhole leading to null space.

Egg reverie took place in mania's version of null space. Proof:
1: they both look kindof the same
2: they were both meant to be a full stage

it all makes sense now

I knew it! The beginning part of this stage always seemed pointless to me since you escape it immediately and it is the namesake of the stage. Not to mention there's a full music track unique to this area.

So that's where that line fits! I found it in the vid I posted on Twitter.I thought it was part of egg gate but that didn't make sense since all the files are in perfect order. Nice find!

Maybe it'll be like Mania, where the set pieces are somewhere, but literally in null space (no pun intended)

Is there anything leftover for an unused chaos boss?

If only this game had 2 more years of development..

Of course it was, this game was rushed. Nice find.

I can't be the only one who thinks that was originally the location for the final infinite fight.

I'm really think SEGA should make a "complete mode" where they add things to the entire game to make it feel more complete. Like a Chaos and Shadow bossfight, maybe more stages (probably even some that aren't from Classic Sonic games, since people did complain about that being the case for all returning stages, understandably), plotholes fixed, certain stages (like this one) made more complete, etc.

We're not in the older ages anymore. If something feels incomplete in a game, it gets patches to fix everything. That being said, I feel this game was rushed and needs to be completed. Adding a "complete mode" as a free DLC to apologize to the disappointed fans would be better than letting the game stay the way it is, where fans massively give it bad reviews.

I believe that they had intended for the section to be longer for more dialogue, but then scrapped it as it would be boring. People thinking that this would’ve been a full stage need to realize that Null Space is literally nothing. Saying that they could’ve done something with the cubes, possibly even going into pathways, would be dumb because it would still probably use the same animation that your running on and feel linear. There are would be no enemies or wisps because this is nothingness and nothing should be there. Don’t try to use the final boss as an excuse for Wisps because that wasn’t in Null Space. Now, I do feel that Null Space should’ve been expanded upon more in the story due to the fact that Eggman could’ve contained everyone in it.

What would have been cool was if the Null Space section was about 2 minutes, then they double boost out of Null Space and have the Metropolis part right after. It would have made Fist Bump feel more appropriate in this level. A feeling of getting closer to victory.

I feel like this level would have been a lot more memorable if the beginning section was kept intact, with you having to dodge the pillars of cubes before activating Double Boost a while in and going through the opening before it closes. The way it is in the final game feels completely pointless tbh.
