RichaadEB - The Lich's Nocturne (Froot's Theme)

Here's the stream starting theme I was commissioned to write for Apricot (Froot)!!

A while ago Vshojo reached out to me to ask if I had any interest composing a theme for Apricot (Froot)'s 2.0 re-debut. Froot had requested a heavy metal track of some sort to accompany her stream starting screen; I had an idea in my head of not only writing something heavy, but of combining aspects from DOOM (2016), classic Castlevania OSTs and Michael Jackson's Thriller. I'm not actually sure if any of this was communicated here, but the end result is still pretty neat I think...

I'm finding that the harpsichord is becoming one of my favorite instruments to include in these types of compositions, it's such a fun instrument to write around IMO (It also plays really well with the metal genre too) - hope you enjoy the music!

Froot may be a lich, but she's actually very sweet and cute. Which is why her theme gets heavy as fuck. Because the name of the game is juxtaposition.

Harpsichord is one of my favourite instruments definitely. Portal 2's "Machiavellian Bach" is still one of my favourite video game songs, and maybe even songs, of all time and it relies heavily on combining harpsichord segments from Bach's original song with arpeggiated synths and phaser effects that play really well into the game's sci-fi theme
