Thanks again Wendy. I have a tip to share or what I do when starting a new sketchbook. For those who are a bit like me and have that “I don’t want to ruin a beautiful new book” syndrome, leave the first page blank. Honestly this helps me so much, then once I finish the book I go back and write about what I have done, learned etc. hope this helps anyone who might struggle with first page anxiety. ❤

I found a quote yesterday that really resonated with me (especially as i think im no artist and procrastinate a lot about actually starting something, afraid it wont be good enough)
"Remember, the opposite of depression is not joy, its expression!
So create, create, create, for it is the soul's medicine"

I've always felt like a misfit. Uniquely me. I'm grateful that it takes a specific situation for me to be lonely. I'm grateful for your videos, many things you say resonates with me. Again keeping things precious is how i think too. Resistance & procrastination are stumbling stones on my path . Thank you.

My youngest daughter has been an artist since the first time she played with paper and crayons. She went through countless reams of paper before she even started kindergarten. She has her masters in Art Education, and has become a very talented potter, and visual artist. She knows I want to do more art, and was thrilled when she saw a sketch I had done. For Christmas she made me a "book to freely write, sketch, and express myself. Nobody is judging it. I love you." She put the permission in the front for me. <3

I love your idea of waiting a bit before starting. Opening the sketchbook and letting it breathe a little.

Synchronicity strikes again! Just yesterday, I was thinking about finally opening and using a sketchbook I received last year. Last year!!! 🤦‍♀️It's been sitting untouched—because, honestly, the fear is real. I haven’t drawn in a sketchbook for so long, and I’ve been feeling insecure about my skills. But thank you for this video; it’s the encouragement I needed to tear off that plastic cover and just start creating! Thank you so much, Wendy!! ❤

I really enjoyed this video!! You are a truly inspirational person. I haven't painted or drawn for 15 years, and you have just given me permission to pull out my Sketchbook, pencils and watercolors. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your creative support... Great thoughts and ideas!!! I have a sketchbook and I mainly use pencil in it. I'm mainly draw during slow times at work and home... I'm in my 50s now, pencil and paper are just really low maintenance 😊. I do you have a plan to take a drawing and make a mixed media piece for my house. Have a great day

I look so forward to your videos!!! It's so stressful here in the US right now, so hearing all of this positivity and creative inspiration is just what I need. I do need to set time aside each day for this and stop feeling guilty about it!! Thank you Wendy for being a bright light for us all. ❤

No way!!! Literally got a decomposition book out and started watching this and omg! I got it exactly for what you stated. I don’t wanna be too attached and the price was good at the market. Thank you for this!!!! Such divine alignment

Wendy, thanks ever so much for refreshing my art journal journey. You were the one who introduced me to this concept during the first spring of lockdowns, 4-yrs ago now. When many of us were trying to survive and thrive during the Pandemic. Your tutorial to art Journaling excited me and I have made many journals now, and at least 6 junk journals from scratch for dear friends and family. A few weeks back I bought 5x7 A5 Winsor & Newton 80lb sketch book, with 50 pages in it. I have started to create in it, but in all honesty my creativity still seemed stale. However, your most recent podcast has lite a fire in me again. Why not add pockets in our sketch books, for important things and your idea of a reminder/permission statement is brilliant. Love, love, love what you have shared. I also love your portraits and fairies - your work is very unique and definitely you have your own creative flare. I hope the joy you give to others reflects in your health, and your health will improve as you are shining a very bright light in our crazy world right now❣️ Many thanks for being you❤️💙💛💚🧡

I love watching you create it relaxes and soothes me. Your sketchbooks are works of art. I love listening to your advice as I feel I can relate it to so many things not just creativity, I completely relate to the never fitting in anywhere. I’ve always felt that too all my life. Thank you for the vloggie big hugs 🧚🏼‍♀️🫶🏻✨🤗xx

38 minutes of the most wonderful common sense I've heard on YT! Thank you so much!

I watched a YT video in recent days about someone obviously inspired by you, who has imitated your studio - down to positioning and identical storage cabinets…….magazine perfect but lacking personality. Have to think of it as a compliment to you. Give me ‘Wendy’ anytime…..with personality. Thank you, Wendy, for all we learn from you.

What a wonderful video. I am a perfectionist and at first I found it so hard to let go. But over time I have learned to just play and not be so hard on myself and things have become so much easier and enjoyable. But it is a process. Thank you

Hello, I have just discovered you, and I am enjoying catching up on a few vlogs to get to know about you. I am not an artist like you with sketching and painting, I am just starting out and I love fabric and stitch. I have just been so inspired by this vlog to start a sketch book. I have thought about it many times but now feel ready to start. I have a lot of art mediums to try, and now feel inspired to join these with fabric and stitch. Many thanks for getting me inspired. I write a permission statement in my journals ans sketchbooks.

I also start by swatching my favorite pallette, too. I love sketchbooks, now, but they used to terrify me.
