This is a Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe movie.
This movie is about the coloured women fighting against the obscene chauvinistic and racist system.

Unfortunately, the title of this video still represents that same system is still very alive and well.

I'm grateful for the insight into the relatively unknown piece of history, and yes it was during the time when "separate but equal" was being torn apart, so civil rights is inevitably going to be part of the movie. But why on Earth do people bring up racism in the comments? Racism effectively died in the 1970's, it's been dead ever since, and one or two knuckleheads that harassed you over a year ago doesn't mean "racism is alive and well", it means you dealt with a knucklehead, welcome to life. On that note, can't wait to see the movie.
