Operating a BlueROV2 - Behind The Scenes 1

In this video I go over some of the preliminary steps involved with operating the BlueRov2. I give an overview of my field kit, including all of the items I bring with me when preparing to launch, as well as a brief discussion of how I manage mobility in between home and the launch site. I also go over some of the more rigorous and technical aspects that are involved with setting up the system.

Blue Robotics offers some incredibly detailed and thorough step-by-step guides on their website, making the technical aspects of operating this platform much more user friendly. I hope to convey in this video that building this rover from the ground up is an empowering way to harness a commanding knowledge of the equipment.

I am a lover of technology, and the feeling of technical competency makes me feel like a professional. Blue Robotics is the perfect company for growing my knowledge and technical skills. They walk me through complicated challenges, leaving me with more confidence in my equipment and a basis for expanding upon the platform. As someone who's goal is to build a business around this product, I feel that it is designed in a way that will naturally enhance my skill sets and knowledge, and propel me to becoming the type of technical expert I envision. It is the perfect platform to grow with, and I hope you can see some of that perspective in this video.

Hi Tom, it's cool to see someone walking through this process from the beginning - if anything the fact that you're just starting out makes it more likely you'll run into snags that other beginners will too, so will hopefully just make it extra informative as those get worked through 🙂

Given this video has quite varied content throughout, it might be worth adding some of youtube's "chapters" to it (by putting timestamps and corresponding chapter titles in the description), so that viewers can get a quick overview of what's in the video, and easily jump to a section they're particularly interested in.

That's understandably extra work beyond a basic video upload, so might not be worth doing for all your videos, but does seem valuable for the longer and more information dense ones like this.

I'm keen to see how this plays out - thanks for sharing the journey so far!

How did you program the xbox controller D-Pad? For some reason it's showing those controls as 16-19 and they are not programable beyond 15
