Reminder: Youtube and Twitch have very different methods of tracking viewers. Youtube only counts you as a view if the stream is your active tab, with the sound on. It's easy to see this on things like Pekora's recent Only Up streams. Every time she fell, she would drop thousands of viewers because they tabbed into something else while leaving her on in the background. Once they hear her proclaim she's finally back to her pervious height, they all switch back to making her stream their active tab and her viewers shoot back up again.
On Twitch, you can have 20 tabs open and you will count as a viewer for all of those streamers.

started a new casual min-max playthrough of Stardew Valley. saw a review about that guy who gained 81 million zennies in the first year.
went to see the full walkthrough at Twitch but could not find most of it. either the VODs are forever gone or the UI being so crappy that I could not find them.

What Twitch is good at, YT is terrible at it and vice versa, so there is no "better" platform in general imo.

Tho as a viewer I prefer YT in general because of better bit rate and fewer ads (for now at least) / better viewing experience and go to Twitch for better chat interactions.

Many indies streamed on Twitch because Twitch has more relaxed restriction than Youtube, Twitch has better livestream chat and people can earn money there

I have nothing against twitch, but I absolutely hate animated emotes. Specially, when people repeat the same exact emote the maximum number of times. It’s really annoying.

Twitch is still also a primarily western thing, while youtube is slightly more global

I've started watching more twitch vtubers and both platforms have their perks. Twitch streamers aren't uptight about sexy stuff and the interaction with chat and alerts can be hilarious. On the other hand the chat always disconnects in my app and sometimes it's only emojis and sometimes coomerbaiting from the streamer. On those days i prefer YouTube.

My observation has been that both platforms are awful in their own special ways and streamers keep migrating back and forth for highly transient reasons.a rule changes on twitch and it sends a stampede off to youtube. Then YT changes a rule and the change that sent them to youtube is forgotten in the migration back.

Youtube could really do an overhaul on streams, because watching streams and trying to engage in chat is garbage. I watch because I love these Vtubers, but I don't really love everything else around it.

Despite how dominated it is on Twitch by big streamers, discoverability is just WAY better on Twitch especially with how YouTube’s algorithm is working. If YouTube would just properly devise a way to discover streams or push them properly without that damn bell option you’d see a lot better initial growth of new streamers and subsequently the QoL changes that people want would get a lot more support pretty much killing off Twitch. From what I’ve heard amongst streamers YouTube’s community already has a more satisfying interaction space with but only by a narrow margin.

Even though YouTube IS making it easier to be Partner, they still need to really improve creator supporting systems.

Twitch made me stop watching Twitch; the only thing I find better is they have animated emotes. I literally only go on there now to watch a single small Vtuber—Uyoo Clover—and that's it.
