I was only 7 years old but I was obsessed with Aaliyah and I cried like I had lost a sister and til this day I still feel that way. She is greatly missed and forever loved.

She died on my 21st birthday and I had just came home from the club that night when I heard about her passing. I was a huge fan of hers and was lucky enough to met her at my old job a month before her death. She wasn't no diva, stuck up, she was humble and had a beautiful smile on her and I had just brought her last album, wish I had it with me so she could have signed it. Keep resting in peace Aaliyah, I named my now 15yo daughter after you.

When Aaliyah died I was only 9 at the time, it was shocking and now 20 years later it’s still shocking. As I got older, I learned that Aaliyah was hoping to return to the same 15 seat plane that brought her to the Bahamas but the company Sky Limo airlines was to pick her up the next day. Also the plane that killed her and 8 others was dangerously overloaded and the pilot who flew the fatal flight went to court two weeks prior. RIP Aaliyah
