Received my G9 yesterday, so appreciate the detailed analysis of all the new features.
Tried the SLO Mo at 150 fps today with the Lumix 14~140 lens, and was blown away with the quality in Cine-D mode!

I love my G9 for photography. I switched from a D7500 with a Sigma 150-600 lens for birds shots and haven't looked back. I use the Leica 100-400 lens which is amazing! Thanks for the video!

Thanks again for the very insightful video, Maarten. It's a joy to wake up on a Saturday morning, have a large cup of coffee and watch your newest videos. I would seriously consider a G9 as a backup to my Panasonic S1 if only they removed the video record time limits. Oh well, a used GH5 certainly has come down in price.

I was watching another camera review channel when it suddenly dawned on me that I haven't seen a Maarten Heilbron video pop up in my feed for a long time. I came to his channel, and found myself NOT subscribed any more. I never UNsubscribed as I think this is the among the best camera info channels on YT. I have noticed I was unsubbed from a number of other channels as well. I wonder what's going on? Of course I subscribed here again right away!

very interesting in-depth video Maarten, I am starting to understand what a Log recording is, from what I understand it is as useful in 1080p recording as it is in 4k, I mean, its usefulness isn't related to the resolution of the video, isn't it? maybe it is not relevant to the video but from panasonic I would love to see an upgraded version of the tiny GF10 with the 20mp sensor and a small pop-up evf....sorry, just a wish...

You stated at 15:58 that you cannot set custom white balance in the Creative Video Mode. I find that odd as I have a Panasonic FZ82 bridge camera and just checked the white balance options in Creative Video Mode and you have 4 custom WB settings that can be saved, plus the K (kelvin) option too. Surely you can do similar on the G9.

so super helpful, what are the benefits of using an atomos external recorder with the g9 and this paid upgrade? Does 500+ mbps make a difference? Is there relief on the 10 minute recording limit with external recording?

Maarten...I recently came across your channel as I was doing some research on the Panasonic G9. Your reviews are very informative and well thouhgt out. I will surely subscribe and dig into other videos going forward. I do have a questions and/or some friend advice if I may. I am seeking a mid-range mirrorless camera around the $800-1000 mark and have narrowed the field down to (3) cameras.
Originallly I was going back and forth between the Olympus EM1 mark II compared to the GH5...and most recently I have muddied the water and brought the G9 into the mix. I intend on using the camera a bit more for video; thus why the GH5 is in consideration; however I believe the EM1 and G9 should both prove to be better camera for stills. Any thoughts suggestions given current firmware updates on these cameras. Any major flaws I may be missing in any of these units? Thanks in advance for your guidance. Best of luck with your channel!

Great video!! I've subscribed as I've just ordered a G9....
I'd like to use an external monitor but only the top end ones seem to say that they're compatible with 60fps.
My question is : Can the G9 downscale the hdmi output? ie, can I record 4k 60fps to my SD card and have the live view which is being displayed to the monitor run a lesser resolution and frame rate allowing me to buy a cheaper monitor!!?

Before I make the decision to give up MFT completely to buy the LUMIX S1, I want really bad to try this camera, as many good things were said about it. Lumix UK corrupted me when they lent me the S1 for a month with the 24-105 and the 2200£ 50mm 1.4...and I can't stop thinking about the awesome results of the S1...but what do you really personally think about the G9?
Has the noise or DR been an issue to you, or the 20mp sensor?
