The weight requirement is important given that most users would want to have a longer flight time than 8 minutes and thus buy the “fly more kit” which requires registration. Sold my drone a while back because I needed cash and have started to regret it, might get back into it soon but we’ll see. I’ll likely have the same issue with learning the regulations though.

Hi There! So my I picked up my DJI Mavic 3 today & I'm so excited. How and where do I go register it? I'm planning on taking the 107 test and learning about it thru you and how to take the test. I'm really looking forward to that. Right now I'm a newbie and need the basics on where to go register and what will be needed when I do. Thank you so much!

So.... I'm a pt107 pilot, flying commercially in an industry where drone use is really taking off. But none of my competitors in the area are 107 pilots, or have registered their drones. What's the move?

When we're answering these questions we can't merely say "make money" or "fly commercially", because there are many things that wouldn't necessarily be considered "making money" or "flying commercially" for them to require registration. I often use "recreationally" or "non-recreationally". Using these words you can encompass more intentions.

I just got part 107 certified. I already have a DJI Mini 3 (small batteries). I just ordered an Air 3. I plan on flying the Air 3 to make money and the Mini 3 strictly recreationally. Do I have to register my Mini 3 and get a remote ID module for it?

If I'm looking on Amazon for a drone (first time buying one) where do I find the weight of the drone?

Does one need a 107 to fly an over 250g drone with RID enabled only for recreation? This seems to be a very grey area.

😢 if the drone weighs over .55 lbs (250g) it has to registered even if it’s is being used recreationally. Also, any drone over 250g (fully loaded with batteries and payload) have to have remote ID in addition to being registered.

Just curious, what if it was used as a free service provided by a company?

A friend who doesn't have a part 107 said I can use his drone with my 107 certificate. How do I register it. FAA is being cryptic about it. I don't want it registered in my name as it's not my drone. It's just a temporary thing until I can earn enough with his drone to buy my own.
