I love revisiting these videos. I love seeing national analysts look goofy about my Lions

this is great watching this. detroit ended up getting gibbs and laporta and both are outstanding players.

They got one of the most explosive offensive players and the best linebacker in the draft. Real head scratcher.

Yes, here's what Detroit sees in him: Gibbs fits Detroit's offense perfectly. He can line up in the slot, and will help conceal their offense a lot better than Swift/Jamaal or Swift/Mont.

What a sick trade in retrospect. Gibbs outplayed Bijan and LaPorta at 34 had the best season a rookie TE has had in the history of the league.

GM of the Lions Brad Holmes is like Chris Simms in the way that he doesn't automatically buy into conventional thought or other people's opinions. The Lions do their own homework and grading and search for high impact players that fit what they're building. Bijan is redundant to David Montgomery. Gibbs offers the Lions a more dynamic offense (and Gibbs is prolific in the passing game and can play slot, Bijan is slow in comparison).

Any blind person who saw Bama play last season saw that Gibbs was the offense. If they didn't get him someone else would have.

People don't realize the Lions just picked up Alvin Kamara and Brian Urlacher

Gibbs was a horrible draft pick. SMH. Thank god Brad and Dan are drafting for the Lions and not these two.

Gibbs is a back, receiver and special teams, a fit for missing spots, great pick, Campbell is a LB we needed.

Brad Holmes and Coach Dan even talk in the same manner. Brothers from another Mother.

I think Jack Campbell was criminally underrated, RAS score is off the charts and he's intelligent. I like the Lions philosophy of taking the players they like, vs what media/mocks say. Half the guys that get drafted in the first round are busts. Lions were criticized for taking Amon-Ra too early in the 4th round, look at the 16 WR's drafted before him. Chase and Waddle are the only 2 that have outperformed. I feel like most teams are playing checkers out here and Holmes and MCDC are playing chess.

Maybe the lions trust their own scouting over the medias mock drafts 🤷‍♀️ what if they thought Gibbs was better than bijan and they traded down knowing their running back they want at 6 would still be there. Everyone’s mad at the lions for picking him in the 1st instead of moving back, they already moved back. With the number 6 pick they got their RB of the future and a super high 2nd rounder.

Lions got 20 touchdowns from the trade down

They hated when we traded Hock, didn't think we could beat the packers week 18, why aren't they drafting a QB do they really believe in Jared Goff, etc. I'll rely on the guy who revamped this roster, not tv GMs..

I think getting Gibbs was a calculated risk that paid off. Gibbs +some more picks, is essentially a net positive

"A linebacker gets taken before a single tight end are you kidding me?"
*Takes the tight end they got for trading back to take Gibbs instead of taking bijan😂 they are hilarious

Lions drafted High Floor guys, which, when 70% of 1st Rd picks bust, not a bad plan.

It’s awesome looking back on this, knowing for a fact what I thought 8 months ago…this Lions Draft was 🔥 and all the talking heads that trashed their draft - what do ya got to say now? This is not a fluke, Brad Holmes has absolutely dominated the past 3 drafts for Detroit! In just 3 years, Holmes and Campbell have drafted:

Penei Sewell
Amon-Ra St. Brown
Aiden Hutchinson
Jameson Williams
Alim McNeil
Kirby Joseph
Jamyr Gibbs
Jack Campbell
Sam Laporta
Brian Branch

That’s 10 starters on a division winner in 3 years
