During a routine surveillance mission, the sensors of a US spy plane detected something unusual: a Russian submarine beneath the surface of the water. This incident has increased tensions in the Alaskan region. In this video, we will delve into what happened.
On May 2, 2024, the tense dynamics of the Arctic region came into sharp focus. NORAD's sophisticated network of sensors, which includes satellites, ground-based radars, and airborne early warning aircraft, detected four Russian military planes operating in the Alaskan ADIZ.
Before we move on, here's a bit more context.
Alaska, America's last frontier, is not just a land of wilderness but a strategic linchpin at the crossroads of the Arctic and the Pacific. Its vast coastline and proximity to Russia make it vital for monitoring foreign military activity. Central to this mission is the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), where all aircraft must identify themselves, allowing the US to track aerial activity for national security.
Recently, the Alaskan ADIZ has seen increased Russian military activity. NORAD, the joint US-Canadian organization responsible for defending North American airspace, reports a significant rise in Russian flights near the zone. These incidents highlight Russia's growing assertiveness in the Arctic, as it expands its military presence, refurbishes old bases, and deploys advanced weapons systems. #spyplane #usnavy

I was stationed in Adak, AK in the 60’s, the naval air station as well as the base in Shemia are now closed. With the new problems possibly they need to become active again. We tracked Russian subs and other Cold War ships during our squadrons stay in Adak.

For the ice breaker ships we have to understand that Russia has a lot more of these types ships than what the US has which we have only 1 and it is about 50 years old and is in not the best shape. Yes we have anouther that is being built but it has major over-runs in cost but also it has had I beleive two different builders and the USCG has failed in its mission to get a hold of the building of it and get it finished and this is all on the Commendant of the USCG who is a joke.

I would not be surprised if Russia has people on the ground in Alaska. That is a large area of land. Watch the back door guys.

When 2 military Powers no matter who they may be. There will always be A crossroad where they shall meet unexpectedly, when not at war it doesn't have to be a confrontation. A simple wave of the flyby or two birds of different militaries. A simple Way by one will get a respectful way from another and go about your day. Everything doesn't have to be a conflict and a confrontation. International Waters is just that. It's for all to use. Yes, I'm completely understanding and astute of a sub from another military in close proximity of another military's base and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what it's initiative is. Just basic recon as long as they don't cross the barrier. Satellites today. They can put a dime anywhere in the world! From space. From the heavens above. We can all get along and more times than not. It is the pilots and the commanders that are on the front lines that give each other the common courtesy. A simple wave of the wings to say hello. When they report back to command with the meeting in the air or in the water or what have you. The old front line commanders have a total understanding that is not a conflict for God's sakes. It's just marking down the lat/lon of the meeting. We can all get along. It's just unfortunate that those that did not rise from the front lines to command that take it in a personal manner of such and want to break out in a my stick is bigger than yours kind of horse crap. The Russian people don't have an issue with other countries. They have an issue with their own government. Russia doesn't have a government. They have a dictator. Just like the CCP. When they try to micromanage their military they lose sight of what's happening behind them. As the CCP is collapsing us we speak. The citizens of China and Russia have no issues with other countries. Just as we wish to live in peace stayed do as well. This goes to show what a dictator. Just one man can screw up an entire region that would affect the world as a whole. Just an Old Navy rotor head. What do I know?

The naïveté of depending upon cooperation from any hostile as a pillar of policy has always been viewed by global aggressors as weakness. Cooperation will never be granted freely. It is a calculated response in the presence of superior capabilities and the willingness to assert that advantage as the driver in behavior modification.

“Then this happened”. Well, not much really happened. Normal Cold War stuff of tracking one another. Russian sub revealing is position takes away a sub’s primary advantage, stealth.
