Studies show that it would cost us $1.7+ billion per year if the Great Salt Lake were to dry up.

"Around 75 percent of all of Utah's water is consumed by agricultural water users."

I think it would be wise to build the pipeline... but that does not mean it would need to be used 100 percent of the time, rather only in emergencies. Cost... a couple of billion I suppose, but the sphere in Vegas cost $2.3 billion so apparently money is just fiat these days...
