Imagine a country on the verge of economic and educational change, and picture being one of the people on the frontline of that change. “Vale la Pena,” which means “worth the struggle,” is the story of Ecuadorian teachers who came to Kansas State University’s College of Education to perfect their English and prepare for their country’s educational transformation. As this partnership grew, Ecuador welcomed Kansas State University preservice teachers to experience the changing educational system and culture in this South American country. Hear why all these English teachers left behind their country, friends, and families with the sole purpose of becoming better teachers.
