#TechThursday LXIV: Quantum Yield Measurement 🧪

Показать описание
Hi everyone!
Do you have some fancy photoluminescent molecules and don’t know exactly how bright they shine?
To find that out we would like to present you an absolute photoluminescence quantum yield spectrometer.
This kind of spectrometer allows absolute quantum yield measurements of samples as solids and solutions. The photoluminescence quantum yield describes the number of photons emitted by a material in relation to the number of photons absorbed.
For the measurement, first a suitable excitation wavelength is chosen and set to a certain wavelength (here 365 nm). Then a blank cuvette is measured as the reference, followed by the measurement of the sample.
The sample measurement is repeated multiple times from different angles to obtain an average value for the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY).
Quantum yield measurements are of high interest in OLED, LED and LEEC materials, dye sensitized photovoltaic materials, fluorescence tags and probes, organic metal complexes etc.
Have a nice TechThursday! 👋🏽
