Company Man has some interesting videos on department stores downfalls. Bed Bath and Beyond is pretty chaotic every time I go and they mainly advertise around college time.

See tj maxx is the overstock that can’t go to Marshalls and home goods! All three of them are the same company. Marshall’s gets clothing/shoes, purses, and beauty. Home goods gets the home/bedroom decor. Then whatever is leftover from both, goes to tj max.

But bed bath and beyond is whatever. Went into there once because I realized I never been into there my whole life. Never again tho. There’s nothing special about it.

If they lowered their prices, they wouldn’t have these problems. The same products they’re selling can be found on Amazon for a fraction of the price. Their selection is subpar as well.

They need to go the way of Target: commission a collection from a domestic personality, like Joanna Gaines with Hearth and Hand to draw in a new crowd. I feel like BBB used to be where you’d register for weddings or house warmings. But people don’t need place settings and blenders from a big box store. Better to focus on decor for renters or home owners’ budget- friendly renovations.

I watched this video this morning. Same day, hours later, CNN alert pops up on my phone: “Bed Bath and Beyond exec jumped from NYC tower.” 😵‍💫😵‍💫 The irony. Girl, you be knowin’ when something in the milk ain’t clean!

Bed bath and beyond are expensive and people have options now. Amazon, Wayfair, target all offer the same thing at competitive prices. Also the supply chain issues hurt them. My husband used to manage bed bath and beyond years ago and he would say back to school was their Christmas. It was a huge money making time. I am sure the Rona's affect on in-person attendance and on campus living have lowered their sales.

Bed bath and beyond used to be that girl for me when it came to plush bath towels but somehow they fell of the radar and when I moved into the rental house I live in, I didn’t even think of going there because let’s be honest Amazon and target are doing their thang being on the fore front so I forgot the store but I used to love it though.

I feel like part of the problem is that bed bath is focused on “home essentials” and has very little home decor. Their items never give “it looks cute and I want to buy it even though I have 3 at home already”
