Labor has been in power two years and the Gap has widened. If it was a Coalition government this would be an outrage. Instead NITV is full of praise for Labor, featuring Albanese highly in its promotion of Garma. No wonder the Coalition stayed away when a Labor PM is feted despite the double failures of the referendum and a widening gap.

The recognition part of the referendum would have passed easily had it been separated from the voice. Recognition had bipartisan support. It was a decision by Labor to link recognition to the voice for purely politcal reasons that caused both to fail.

As for Albanese's latest solution, it will be like all the other solutions. The privileged elite among the indigenous community will become richer and those in the most need will miss out. So it has been for the past 50 years with nothing changed for the impoverished and disadvantaged indigenous people despite land rights, land councils, Mabo, ATSIC, NIAA and an army of bureaucrats and billions of dollars. These failures are why the voice was rejected . The expectation was the same people would gain, the same people would miss out. There will be no hope for disadvantaged until the elite are bypassed.
