*** I misspelt "Twonie" in the video. It's not "Twoonie"! lol

Canadian English and US English are very, very similar. In fact, many people think I'm American until I tell them I'm actually Canadian. Maybe the reason for this is because many Canadians have a fairly standard, neutral accent that is extremely close to the standard American accent. This is probably due to the heavy influence of US television and movies, as well as being quite close geographically.

Of course, you can find a variety of more unique accents all across the US and Canada but that's not all. Another telltale sign of where you come from is some of the terms and slang you use.

It doesn't happen often, but there have been a handful of times in my life where someone picked up that I was Canadian because of nothing more than a single word I used.

Here's a collection of 20 exclusively Canadian English terms and slang.

1. bird course
2. clicks
3. mickey
4. 26er
5. 40 pounder
6. pop
7. hydro
8. keener
9. homo milk
10. 2-4
11. toque
12. double-double
13. washroom
14. tap
15. elastic
16. stag
17. knapsack
18. pogey
19. Loonie
20. Twonie
