It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled. ¿Mark Twain¿

Bookstores in the UK are already seeing a big increase in revenue. In my homeland Portugal I keep seeing bookstores packed with people for the past couple of years. Even on social media, a whole lot of people talking about books.
I never thought I'd see people go crazy over books ever again. It's so nice to see this.

He underestimates the conviction people have in believing in something because they KNOW it's NOT true.

Neil, it's not about fake news per se. It's about what they want to hear. Therefore, people will believe anything as long as it's what they want to be true, whether it is or not. They may change channels but not content.

I'll take it. Let it happen, books and meeting other people, I'm ready for the paradigm shift. Bring it.

Welcome to the internet. We've been saying everything on the Internet is fake since 2005, but some people seem to have never gotten the memo.

EDIT: the number of people in the replies who are taking this literally instead of applying basic critical thinking skills is just proving my point. You treat everything as fake and then you figure it out _yourself._

EDIT 2: I appear to have given people too much credit when I said "basic" critical thinking skills. Apparently being able to decipher a very obviously hyperbolic statement as hyperbole is too much. People are quick to point out the contradiction evident in my statement, yet the thought never crossed their mind that was the sign that it was hyperbole. I'm not sure if this is basic critical thinking anymore, this might just be a lack of reading comprehension skills.

That won't help either, -going back to books and going back to talking to people, cuz "people" - are essentially the biggest problem that Humanity has for itself

When the internet was introduced the catch phrase was "information super highway". Of course it still is to this day. But at that time we didn't realise that human nature would also turn it into a "misinformation mega highway."

I could make a very long list of books filled with lies. Same with newspapers, TV shows, radio, etc.
The only way out is to use your brain

I couldn't be more glad for all the access to all this information we can have about nearly anything through our phone or pc

Yeah, Neil, except those are the very same people who DON'T READ!!

Well, as we know, there's never been any false information published in books. That will totally solve the problem.

That is why there are newer news sources (eg. social media) every year that claim 'truth..' Won't stop, just goes full circle over and over from one billionaire's hands to the next.

We're there already. People don't even believe the online dictionary! "I don't believe anything on the internet"

I honestly subscribe to horses and carriages, candle lights, books, teapots and the slowing down of time. Going "faster and faster" only gets you dead faster. 🌱🌱🌱🦋🌱🌱🌱
