When I wrote Until Dawn, I was inspired by the intense desire of wanting to be with someone I couldn’t truly be with. I wrote this about a love that exists only in the shadows - kind of like a bond that feels real and alive but will eventually disappear as dawn (reality) comes. The song is about the beauty of holding onto something that you know can’t last—whether it’s due to the distance between you or the incompatibilities that keep you apart. Despite knowing the inevitable outcome, there’s an allure to each moment you spend with them. Until dawn is about embracing the ephemeral rush of that connection, knowing it will fade away at daylight.

I don't think a “ephemeral moment” would be such bad thing but if it's
with love that would finish so much better, without sour taste, and excitment wouldn't get lost so easily when they see again. Even though, eventually, both have empty complains to each other, the great times past together keep going
