This is Part 1 of my series on RED Komodo Digital Cinema Camera. I've spent a lot of time researching everything about Komodo. Now, even though it's in hands of thousands of people there still isn't all that much information available about this awesome little cine camera so in my Komodo video series I am going to DEEP DIVE into EVERYTHING about it. If you are interested, subscribe and let's go on this discovery ride together.

#RED #KOMODO #DIGITALCINEMACAMERA

Time Stamps:
01:01 - Worthy 2020 camera releases (overview)
03:40 - Five Reasons why I got the camera
03:48 -- Reason #1 (price)
04:51 -- Reason #2 (clearly defined expectations)
08:21 -- Reason #3 (16bit RAW files)
10:55 -- Reason #4 (Global Shutter)

23:24 - About Komodo's 6K Super-35 Sensor

Obviously - nothing in this video is sponsored. This is my own camera I bought with my own money :) I am new to RED eco-system, but as you can tell - I am quite excited to finally be part of it.

LINKS TO RAW KOMODO FILES

In Part 2 - we will dive into Komodo’s menu system and all settings.

In Part 3 - we will dive into rigging out Komodo with accessories I currently have. Tommy Ribs, external monitor, etc.

In Part 4 - we will go through RED Workflow on OS X. From R3D files to working in Final Cut Pro X.

My Komodo is a pre-(mass)-production model. Limited edition Storm Trooper white (there's about 1000-1300 int eh wild). It is 100% finalized production ready hardware with BETA firmware/software.

Currently works only with some EF lenses through RF to EF adapter. But will fully support Canon RF lenses in the near future.

Komodo should be officially out within a month or two (End of October or in November of 2020) and should cost about $6,000.

Komodo is a 6K digital CINEMA camera, with GLOBAL SHUTTER! Records videos in RED RAW (R3D) format internally to a to CFast 2.0 cards.

- It has an RF Lens mount
- Capacitive Touch Screen at the top
- Is very small (4" cube weighing about 2 pounds)
- Accepts Canon BP-9 series (955 and 975) batteries and can run 3.5 hours on two 955s
- RED Color Science and REAL RAW file format
- Extremely tough (though not weather sealed)
- WiFi connectivity, remote control, etc.
- and more (watch the video) :-)

If you want me to answer any questions in the future videos, please let me know.

Enjoy!

Very well done... I know you keep saying you're not a pro but this has been better than most of the other Komodo videos I've seen. Please keep them coming... thank you.

The best thorough Komodo review I’ve watched thus far (and I’ve watched quite a few). You rock.

Hands down one of the best and most through videos on the Komodo I’ve seen. I’m planning on buying one as well and it’ll be my first cinema camera (I don’t think my FX3 counts). And for the same reasons as you - love the hardware side and amazing engineering. But just want to make better filmic videos for myself.

I am looking into these cameras, the Komodo's auto focus is sub par compared to Sony Alpha's and Cannon's line, for me this is a highly limiting factor. I like the menu and remote software, great imagine / color science and file size. But still I really need auto focus, and active image stabilization.

my big concerned about this camera is that red cameras allways need a lot of noise reduction in post, i mean with a fx9 or something you can shoost at night without los of processin in post with noise reduction, and is no the cae of red cameras, of course better image but you have to know that the processin is going to be a heavy one with noise reduction for almost everything
