Should you use the Insta360 App or the Insta360 Studio when exporting your clips? And do the different export settings make a significant difference? In this video I export the same clips using each program and see what the difference is.

The Insta360 App has a lot of popular features which makes it one of the best reasons to choose an Insta360 camera. The downside is that using the app results in lower quality clips when exporting.

Let's see exactly how different the quality between the two Insta360 programs is.

After editing with the insta360 studio software, i play all my videos on my high end 4k 65 inch tv. This works okay, but but ....the studio software lacks most of the nice labshot features of the app. However the smartphone (even with larger screen), is way too small for nice and easy editing. Certainly if you have lots of clips from a holiday. So insta360 really needs to increase the studio software so that all of the advertized features of the cameras are really available for all users. Next we need a new X4 with large improvement in low light (like the ace pro pure video mode).

Great post thanks !

What specs does my phone / laptop need for always being able to watch my footage in the original highres preview and not the proxy preview ? And to be able to export an edited 4K 5 minute video (from heavy bullet time 120fps footage) fast in just a few minutes ?

Question, I use Davinci Resolve for editing. When using the 360 Studio version does it make any difference to export in 5K? I was curious as I film in 5.4K does it make it any better when I export that way to Davinci Resolve?

Thanks. I was wondering about this issue. My question is: if I was going to reframe my 360 videos in the desk top application, so I can edit them in premiere, do I export the reframed clips in apple pro or just export in 4k h264. I want the highest quality so...

Can you make a video about 360 video editing (re framing and so on) in the new DaVinci Resolve 19?

When using the desktop version, I always get washed out, flat colors while the iOS app generates truer colors. I only get correct colors after re-editing in Davinci and color grading the footage. Is there a settings in Insta360 Studio to make it generates better colors?

Where do the blasted images go when I use my iPad???
If I use my iPad and export to insta360 & share I can see my pics & vidz - people are even 'liking' them, but where ARE they? can I access them with my desktop browser? (because I can't figure that out at all).
When I log in to insta360 on my desktop and search for my nickname it doesn't find me. Is it a separate site?
I'd like to get access from my desktop computer to edit & even type additional stuff on the full keyboard, but I simply cannot find out where these things are
Furthermore the software remains admant that I live in some place I've never ever been in my entire life - yet I keep forcing it to be local and it just won't - then delights in stamping my photos with this annoying "Blackburn and Darwen" text that makes utterly no sense whatsoever - I had to look it up to find it is a location in England. (I live in Scotland and my iPad knows EXACTLY where I am (frighteningly so)

I'm new to 360. I like the phone app for what it is, but I am not impressed with studio. It crashes half the time. I'm going back to FCPX.

Here's my question, do you have to use Studio to export 360 video. Or can you simply rename the files to .mp4 or .mov? What does "export" really do to the video file? [The file size of the export is the exact same size]

Sorry for my ignorance. Just trying to find the best tool with the least issues.

Not quite sure what I am about to say is correct. So, your thoughts matter a lot. As I understand it shooting a 360 vid in 4K. Does Insta video 2k in one lens and 2k in the other calling it 4K?? Second question. As far as I know, it is not possible to get an improvement in quality by "up resing" If the video was only shot in say 1080p in the first place? Or better to say the original pixel count is increased by cloning what it had in the first instance. Ie same pixel quality, colour space, contrast, sharpness as the one next door. Increasing pixel count and physical print size only. Not quality.

I feel like it makes a bigger difference between studio and app when you are using the X2

I'm considering buying a new laptop (not any Apple Mac). I wonder if any Windows laptop could do or if it needs some minimal requirements to edit 360 video.
Can Samsung tablets replace a laptop to edit 360 videos using the software mentioned in this video?

Can you share some original footage files from insta 360 x3 for comparison?
Good luck🤞

It’s true, it’s mainly highly professional video editors improving the videos to highest quality. The 360 vid is defaulting to 1080p export settings, just like in this video, because they want you to make that HD quality video for the 360 cams, but if you used the 4k mod (RS version) or Ace Pro can get passable 4k video. You need 10bit video and high dynamic range you find in DSLRs like XAVC S 4K and greater, ultimately and you’re not going to get that in these action cams. You can also SLOG3 record and color grade yourself if you’re good with other software but it takes a long time and the LUTs you get from Insta360 are a little TOO vivid. Who really has time for that? Great video though.
